Attorney Mackenzie Renner
Mackenzie Renner, founder and sole proprietor of Renner Legal, LLC, graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2007 and was sworn into the Wisconsin Bar shortly thereafter.
For almost two decades, Mackenzie represented criminal and juvenile defendants through her work with the Wisconsin State Public Defender. While with the SPD, Mackenzie served 10 years in the Kenosha trial office, before being promoted to Local Attorney Manager of the Elkhorn office in 2018.
Mackenzie has been the recipient of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL) Martin Hanson Advocate’s Award for successful defense in a homicide case as well as the Kuchler-Nicholson-Stilling Sensitive Crimes Award for successful defense of a sexual assault allegation.
In addition to representation of clients, Mackenzie serves as an educator for other attorneys. Throughout her career, Mackenzie has enjoyed sharing her experience with others in the profession. She has presented on topics ranging from long-arm subpoenas, juvenile defense, the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and “Jane Doe” proceedings. Mackenzie is one of the many authors to update the “Wisconsin Juvenile Law Handbook”
In 2025, Mackenzie established Renner Legal, LLC., a firm dedicated to the clients she serves. Opening on August 4, 2025, Renner Legal, LLC serves Walworth, Kenosha, Rock and Racine Counties.
